ബെർലിൻ: ജപമാല മാസത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് 7 ദിവസം നീണ്ടു നിന്ന ജപമാല യജ്ഞം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച് കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ ജർമ്മനി . ഓൺലൈൻ പ്ലാറ്റ് ഫോമിൽ നടത്തിയ ജപമാലയിൽ 70 അംഗങ്ങൾ വീതം ദിവസവും പങ്കാളികളായി. ജപമാലയാകുന്ന ആയുധം മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് പരിശുദ്ധ അമ്മയോടുള്ള ഭക്തിയും വിധേയത്വവും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കാനും , നൽകിയ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവത്തോട് നന്ദി പറയുവാനും കൂടുതൽ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്കായി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാനും യുവജനങ്ങൾ ഒന്നിച്ചണിച്ചേർന്നപ്പോൾ അത് മനോഹരമായ ആത്മീയ അനുഭവമായി.

ജി.കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ ൻ്റെ 6 യൂണിറ്റുകൾ ഒരോ ദിവസവും നിയോഗം വെച്ച് ജപമാല നയിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ഏഴാം ദിനം ജി.കെ.സി.വൈ.എൻ സെൻട്രൽ കമ്മിറ്റിയും വിശ്വാസ പരിശീലന രംഗത്തെ കുട്ടികളും ജപമാല നയിച്ചു. ജപമാലയുടെ ഏഴാം ദിവസം കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ കോട്ടയം അതിരൂപത ചാപ്ലിയൻ ഫാ. റ്റീനേഷ് പിണർക്കയിൽ സന്ദേശവും ആശീർവാദവും നൽകി. ഫാ. ബിനോയി കൂട്ടനാൽ, ഫാ. ജിതിൻ വളാർക്കാട്ട്, ഫാ. സജി തോട്ടത്തിൽ, ഫാ. ജെന്നീസ് വെച്ചുവെട്ടിക്കൽ, ഫാ ജോസ് ചിറയിൽപുത്തൻപുര , ഫാ. ബിനീഷ് മാൻങ്കോട്ടിൽ എന്നിവർ മറ്റു ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ സന്ദേശവും അശീർവാദവും നൽകി. ജി.കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് നിധിൻ ഷാജി, യൂണീറ്റ് പ്രസിഡൻ്റുമാർ അലക്സ്, അജീന, അൻസൺ, ജെൻസി ,ജബിൻ, മെറിൻ മറ്റു എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് അംഗങ്ങൾ ജപമാലക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി

What is special about the Knanayas? What makes them different from other Christian communities? Is it not a perversion within the Christian community? These are some of the questions asked by friends and groups, when they hear about my Knanaya origin. I was often embarrassed at such queries in the past because in most cases they carry a tone of hidden contempt. As per my information, this situation is a common experience of many Knanayas in a non-knanaya group.

Due to such embarrassing situations, I have asked myself, why I still continue to be a Knanaya? What thrives me to be a part of this community? I believe many Knanaya children, youth and the migrated parents in different parts of Europe, America, Australia etc. keep asking themselves similar questions.

An honest analysis of the problem shows us that:

I. The non-Knanaya Christian communities process very little knowledge about the elements of Knanaya culture and its contributions to the Church and world cultural heritage. Added to that they still hold on to the manipulated ideas of pure blood, Charamkettikal, Endogamy etc. on the Knanayas.

II. The vast majority of the Knanayas present themselves as someone special and that they are endogamous. The majority of the Knanayas fail to present the ethno-religious cultural heritage of the Knanaya society.

Through this article, I wish that the Knanayas themselves come to know the deeper meaning of their culture and practices.

1. Who are the Knanayas?

The Knanayas are the descendants of an ethno-religious community that migrated from the Middle East (Kana) to Kerala in the year 345. It is an ethno-religious community because of its common Jewish ethnic origin and Christian religious beliefs.

2. Does the Knanayas have a culture of their own?

Yes. The Knanaya follow a Jewish-Christian culture. It is an ethnic culture that has survived 17 centuries in a foreign land without political or military power. Purathanpattukal/ Songs sung during different community events narrate the cultural history of the Knanayas.

3. What are the main elements of Knanaya culture?

3.1 The Jewish- Christian Ethnic origin.

The Knanayas belong to a Jewish-Christian ethnic group that migrated to India. Besides the common Jewish ancestry, the Jewish-Christian practices going back to the Traditions of St. Thomas the Apostle bring this community together. It is a system of bonding – Belief and Community (Vishvasam & Samudhayam) together.

These two elements together make it an ethno-religious community.  There is no Knanaya community without the belief in Jesus and the Church. This ability to club them together is the greatness of this community. It is also the greatest dilemma that the Knanaya community has been facing. It is both a positive and negative aspect of the knanaya culture.

3.2 The Knanaya concept of FAMILY.

The Knanayas have a comprehensive concept of family in comparison to many other cultures. A Knanaya Family consists not only of father, mother, and children but also the kith and kin. All the major events of a Knanaya family are closely associated with traditions that bring the enlarged family together.

3.3 The Knanaya siblings’ bond – Knanaya Koottayima

Knanayas maintain a strong community bond among the members. The members feel an inner urge to support each other and to come together without the influence of any external compulsion. They recognize each other as members of a common family having a common origin. It is a common trait of the Knanayas which we rarely find among other cultural groups.

3.4 The Knanaya heritage of traditions and practices

The Knanayas have a great treasure of meaningful traditions and practices that define the Knanaya concept of life, family, and belief. These traditions are practiced freely at all major family and religious events. The unique Knanaya method of involving members of different age groups (from elders to children) in practicing the traditions is praiseworthy. They are treasures of human cultural history.

3.5 The Knanaya method of inculturation and preservation of culture

The Knanaya community is basically a migrating community. In spite of this common characteristic, it follows a practical method of preserving its ancestral traditions. The Knanaya community encourages its members to respect also the local traditions of the region where they live. Their method of transmitting and preserving one’s own culture and integrating meaningful regional-cultural elements is unique method of world cultural preservation.

4. Why Endogamy? Is it a racist community practice?

The Knanaya community practices endogamy as practiced by many other communities in India and other parts of the world.  Its concept of endogamy is not based on superiority or inferiority concepts of human races. The Knanaya Endogamy does not allow its members to consider non-Knanayas as less important persons. It is a community that believes in the dignity and honor of every human being. Its endogamy practices are specifically to preserve the community.

It is a decentralized social system in which the families/individuals are free to practice or abstain from the traditions. It has no social or hierarchical structures which impose sanctions on erring members. The members practice and preserve the traditions freely. The erring members are never denied of their ancestral or property rights.

This free nature of Knanaya Endogamy has helped the community to preserve their culture for 17 centuries without political or military power.  It is a great proof for the commitment of the Knanayas to preserve their ancestral culture.

What makes the Knanayas different from other Syro-Malabar Christians?

In Faith and belief, the Knanayas are rooted in the common beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church. The Knanaya Culture and ethnicity make them different from the other Christian groups.

Ethnicity and belongingness to a particular culture is part of human life. Jesus our Lord and savior never disowned his Jewish identity. He was a faithful Jew, who followed the socio-religious practices of his society until his death.

The right to exist and to preserve the identity of an ethnic society is a human right recognized by the UNO* and the Catholic Church. In the words of St. John Paul II, “Your culture, which shows the lasting genius and dignity of your race, must not be allowed to disappear” *. The Knanayas follow a 1700 year old culture. They happily preserve it and transmit it to younger generations. It is a great contribution to the world's cultural heritage. Be proud of your Knanaya origin. Be happy to preserve it.

" നാം എല്ലാവരും ഈശോയെ കണ്ടത്താനുള്ള യാത്രയിലാണ് ആ യാത്രയിൽ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ചേർത്ത് പിടിച്ച്   ഒരുമിച്ചായിരിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കണമെന്നും, ജർമ്മനിയിലായിരുന്നാലും പൂർവ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാർ പകർന്നു നൽകിയ വിശ്വാസ പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങൾ മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്  സഭാ കൂട്ടായ്മക്കായി വളരാനും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ വളർത്താനും അങ്ങനെ ക്നാനായ സമുദായം മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് നല്ലൊരു മാതൃകയായി തീരണമെന്നും, ക്നാനായ സമുദായത്തിൻ്റെ ഭാവി യുവജനങ്ങളിൽ ഭദ്രമാക്കണമെന്നും "  ഉദ്ഘാടന പ്രസംഗത്തിലൂടെ അഭിവന്ദ്യ പിതാവ് യുവജനങ്ങളെ ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തി . കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ ജർമ്മനിക്കു വേണ്ടി യൂണീറ്റ് അംഗവും , ബെർലിൻ യൂണീറ്റ് പ്രസിഡൻ്റുമായ ജെബിൻ ജെയിംസ് കളരിക്കൽ രചിച്ച  ഗാനം “കുടിയേറ്റം" അഭിവന്ദ്യ പിതാവ് പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്തു. സ്പിരിച്ചൽ അഡ്വൈസർ ഫാ. ബിനോയ് കൂട്ടനാൽ ആമുഖ പ്രഭാഷണവും സിസ്റ്റർ അഡ്വൈസർ സി. ജോമി എസ്.ജെ.സി. ആശംസ പ്രഭാഷണവും നടത്തി. പൂർവ്വപിതാക്കാൻമാരുടെ വിശ്വാസ തീക്ഷണതയിലും അനുസരണയിലും വിധേയരായി , ക്രിസ്തുവിലുള്ള  അനന്ത സാധ്യതകൾ നേടി പോകുന്ന യുവജനങ്ങൾ  എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തെ മുൻനിർത്തി നടന്ന യുവജന സംഗമത്തിൽ 200 ൽ പരം യുവജനങ്ങളും നിരവധി മാതാപിതാക്കളും വിശ്വാസപരിശീലനം നേടുന്ന തിരുബാലസഖ്യത്തിലെ കുട്ടികളും പങ്കെടുത്തു. ഡയറക്ടർ ശ്രീമതി ചിഞ്ചു അന്ന പൂവത്തേൽ കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ പതാക ഉയർത്തി ഔദ്യോഗികമായി തുടക്കം കുറിച്ച സംഗമത്തിൽ വിവിധ യൂണിറ്റുകളിലെ യുവജനങ്ങളുടെയും വിശ്വാസപരിലീശല കുട്ടികളുടെ കലാപരിപാടികൾ നടത്തപ്പെട്ടു. . നിജോ ജോണി പണ്ടാരശേരിയിൽ, തോബിയാസ് പറപള്ളിയിൽ ,അഞ്ചു പതിപ്ലാക്കിൽ എന്നിവർ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു. ജോജി ജോസഫ് മെത്തായത്ത്, സിജോ സാബു നെടുംതൊട്ടിയിൽ, ബോണി സൈമൺ ഈഴറാത്ത്, ജോയ്സൺ കിഴക്കേവള്ളിക്കാട്ടിൽ,  അലേന കിഴക്കേവള്ളിക്കാട്ടിൽ , യൂണിറ്റ് ഭാരവാഹികൾ എന്നിവർ പരിപാടികൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

Exploring Unity and Culture: A Recap of the GKCYL Bremen Unit Meetup

In the heart of Bremen, the hall of St. Birgitta Church, Marßel witnessed the dawn of a new chapter on 4th November, 2023, as members of the GKCYL Bremen Unit gathered for their inaugural meetup. Executives, national committee representatives, and unit members convened to set the stage for what would become a day of shared experiences and newfound camaraderie.

The proceedings commenced with a warm welcome from President Merin Mary Biju, extending greetings to attendees from diverse regions like Oldenburg, Hannover, Rostock, and Hamburg. Secretary Sanjo Simon Jain and Treasurer Philip James presented their reports, providing insights into the unit's activities and financial standing respectively.

Amidst the formalities, the meeting took on a personal touch as the GKCYL Director Chinju Anna Poovathel and GKCYL National Committee member Ajay Mathew James introduced the newly elected Bremen executive members to the unit members and welcomed them into the National Committee. Chinju opined that the establishments of the various regional units like Bremen would strengthen GKCYL at a grassroot level. The event culminated in a symbolic cake cutting, marking not only a beginning but a shared commitment to the unit's journey. Following the official proceedings, informal interactions, Anthakshari and lunch fostered an atmosphere of unity. The day ended with a visit to the Bremen Dom and heartfelt wishes exchanged among members, laying the foundation for a vibrant and culturally rich community. These moments of connection and shared stories served as a testament to the potential for unity within diversity, echoing the spirit of the GKCYL Bremen Unit.

ബെർലിൻ യൂണിറ്റിന്റെ സ്ഥാപനവും, ഭാരവാഹികളുടെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പും നടത്തുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഒരു മണിയോടെ ബെർലിനിലെ Tempelhof   പാർക്കിൽ വെച്ച് യോഗം ചേരുകയുണ്ടായി.. ഏകദേശം ഇരുപതോളം പേർ പങ്കെടുത്ത യോഗത്തിൽ വെച്ച് ജർമ്മൻ കെ.സി.വൈ.എൽ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ തന്നെ ആദ്യത്തെ കെ.സി.വൈ. എൽ യൂണിറ്റ് സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും, Unit  ഭാരവാഹികളെ  ഏകകണ്ഠമായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Central committee യിൽ നിന്നും ഡിജിറ്റൽ മീഡിയ & ഐ.ടി അഡ്വൈസർ ആയ ബോണി സൈമൺ പുതിയ ഭാരവാഹികളെ എല്ലാവർക്കുമായി  പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി.

പുതിയതായി വന്ന Berlin KCYL അംഗങ്ങളെ സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്യുകയും , എല്ലാവരും പരസ്പ്പരം പരിചയപെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.പിന്നീട് പലതരത്തിലുള്ള ഗെയിംസുകൾ നടത്തുകയും,പാട്ടുകൾ പാടിയും, ഡാൻസുകൾ കളിച്ചും എല്ലാവരും ചേർന്ന് പ്രോഗ്രാം മിഴിവുറ്റതാക്കി. അതിനു ശേഷം BBQ പാർട്ടി നടത്തുകയും 9 മണിയോടുകൂടി യോഗം അവസാനിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

On November 19th, 2023 around 10 am, around 30 Cologne Unit members came together in Solingen. First of all, under the guidance of Maria Solomon, everyone started shaping the Pidi into small balls. Meanwhile, our program coordinator Ajay Mathew told and informed about the history and the cultural context. After this was finished, everyone was divided into four different groups and played various games and had fun. A meeting was held around 1:30 pm At the beginning, Vice President Amal Tomy welcomed everyone. Our Joint Secretary Anargha Saji then presented the minutes from the Unit Formation and our Treasurer Anish Rajesh listed the costs. GKCYL Cologne Unit President Jency Johnson gave a speech. Afterwards, GKCYL Director Chinju Anna Raju, GKCYL President Nidhin Shaji, GKCYL Treasurer Tobias and GKCYL executive member Merin addressed some motivating words to the members. Seara's brother (Cologne Unit Member), Stebin, then reported a bit about how he perceives the community and how the GKCYL community has developed. Based on his experiences, he conveyed important values ​​and appealed for active participation. Finally, Ajay thanked everyone and the meeting ended. To celebrate the one year anniversary of CJ Events, led by Chinju Anna and her husband Jibu, a cake was cut and shared with everyone. Now we ate. Everyone enjoyed a pumpkin soup as a starter and Pidi & Kozhi together. To celebrate the day, a Chanthamcharth was organized for our Cologne Unit member Julbin. Everyone took part and everyone had their job. Since he is about to get married, everyone wanted to please him by imitating the customs and traditions. To end the evening, a DJ played music and many members danced and celebrated to the music. The meeting and the successful day ended around 6:30 pm and everyone headed home.

Solingen,07.10.2023 : The GKCYL Cologne Unit came together for a day of unity and celebration as they marked the formation of their new leadership team. The event, led by GKCYL President Nidhin Shaji Vechuvettikkal and Director Chinju Anna Poovathel, was a resounding success, with 28 enthusiastic members participating in the festivities. These dedicated individuals are set to lead the unit forward, and the community is eagerly anticipating the positive changes they will bring. The event was inaugurated with Director Chinju Anna Poovathel lighting candles, symbolizing the unit's commitment to unity and progress. GKCYL President Nidhin Shaji cut the celebratory cake, which was shared with all participants. President Jency Johnson discussed upcoming events, including the Rosary of Cologne Unit scheduled for 12.10.2023 and the much-anticipated GKCYL Christmas celebration in Frankfurt on 28.12.2023. Community members engaged in lively discussions about the unit's future and ways to enhance its growth. After the constructive discussions, everyone came together to plan a traditional Knanaya food-making event, "Pidi and Kozhi," scheduled for 19.11.2023.

The celebration continued with a series of cultural performances that showcased the rich heritage and talents within the Cologne Unit. Participants then enjoyed a delicious meal together before embarking on an excursion to Münchener Brücke around 4 o'clock. There, they engaged in various outdoor activities and games. The event concluded at 7 pm, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a sense of togetherness.

ജർമ്മനിയിൽ ബയേൺ റീജണിലെ  താൽഫിംഗൻ സെന്റ് ലോറാൻസ് ദേവാലയത്തിൽ ലദീഞ്ഞോടുകൂടി ആരംഭിച്ച പരിശുദ്ധ കുർബാനക്ക് കോട്ടയം അതിരൂപത കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് മാനേജർ ഫാ. തോമസ് പുതിയകുന്നേൽ മുഖ്യ കാർമ്മികത്വം വഹിച്ചു. അതിരൂപത ചാന്‍സിലര്‍ ഫാ. ജോണ്‍ ചെന്നാക്കുഴി തിരുനാൾ സന്ദേശം നൽകി. പിറവം ഫൊറോന വികാരി ഫാ. തോമസ് പ്രാലേൽ , ജികെസിവൈഎൽ ചാപ്ലിയൻ ഫാ. ബിനോയി കൂട്ടനാൽ, വികാരി ഫാ. ജോജി കളരിക്കൽ ,ഫാ. ജെന്നീസ് വെച്ചുവെട്ടിക്കൽ , ഫാ.ജോണി ചാമപ്പാറ, ഫാ. ജെയ്മോൻ വേങ്ങച്ചേരിയിൽ എന്നിവർ സഹകാർമ്മികത്വം വഹിച്ചു.

തുടർന്നു നടന്ന വർണശബളമായ ഓണാഘോഷ പരിപാടികൾ ഏവരുടെയും മനസ്സിൽ ഗൃഹാതുരത്വത്തിന്റെ നല്ല ഓർമ്മകൾ സമ്മാനിച്ചു. പ്രസിഡന്റ് നിധിൻ ഷാജി വെച്ചുവെട്ടിക്കൽ ഏവരെയും ഓണാഘോഷത്തിലേക്ക് സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്യുകയും ഫാ. തോമസ് പുതിയകുന്നേൽ  തിരിതെളിച്ച് ഓണാഘോഷം  ഉൽഘാടനം ചെയ്തു.  ആർപ്പുവിളികളുടെ ആരവത്തോടുകൂടികടന്നുവന്ന മാവേലി തമ്പുരാൻ സദസ്സിനെ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യതതും ,  തുടർന്ന് നടന്ന തിരുവാതിര, ഓണ പാട്ടുകൾ, ഓണകളികൾ, വിവിധ യൂണീറ്റുകളുടെ കലാപരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവ ഏവരെയും ഹരം കൊള്ളിച്ചു. 130 ഓളം യുവജനങ്ങൾ പങ്കെടുത്ത ആഘോഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ജർമ്മനിയിൽ സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്ന എസ് വി എം , സെൻറ് ജോസഫ് , കാരിത്താസ് സന്യാസസമൂഹത്തിലെ നിരവിധി സന്യസ്തരും പങ്കെടുത്തു. യുവജനങ്ങൾ തന്നെ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ ഓണസദ്യ ഏവരുടെയും നാവുകൾക്ക് രുചി പകർന്നു . വിപുലമായ ഓണസദ്യയ്ക്ക് നിജോ പണ്ടാരശ്ശേരിയിൽ, ജോജി മെത്തായത് , ജെന്റിൽ & സിമി കാരകുന്നതു എന്നിവരും , വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികൾക്ക് ,സി. ജോമി SJC , ചിഞ്ചു പൂവത്തേൽ, ബോണി ഈഴറാത്ത്, സിജോ നെടുംതൊട്ടിയിൽ, ജോസ്മി അത്താനിക്കൽ ,അജീന ചേലമലയിൽ, ജാക്സൺ  ആനിമൂട്ടിൽ, ജാബിൻ കളരിക്കൽ , അലക്സ് പ്ലാംപറമ്പിൽ എന്നിവരും നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

Gelsenkirchen: Thanima is a Knanaya Family meet organised by the German Knanaya Catholic Fellowship (GKCF). Various programs and cultural events took place over the course of three days. On the Rockers is a dance by Jeneesa, Abidan, Hannah, Johan, and Juvan from the NRW Region.

Stuttgart: Agape 2022 KCYL Germany's Southern Region Meeting and Family Reunion was inaugurated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Algeria and Tunisia Mar Kurian Vayalunkal on 4th September 2022. KCYL Germany Vice President Nijo Johny Pandarasseril presided over the general assembly which started with Holy Mass presided over by His Excellency Mar Kurian Vayalunkal at St. Mauritius Odheim Church, Stuttgart Region. "The divine light in the youth, the light of goodness should not be diminished and must be propagated to others, thus making the whole world brighter. We must grow together in community and let others grow", his Excellency reminded in his opening speech. The GKCYL spiritual advisor, Fr. Binoy Koottanal delivered the introductory speech. Sister Advisor Jomy SJC, Fr. Johny Chamapara and Fr. Jennis Thomas Vechuvettikal greeted the audience. Around 60 members participated in the meeting held with the objectives of strengthening the KCYL organization at unit level, uniting the Knanaya youth and nurturing their spiritual growth. Anju Thankachan Thadathil, Jaicemon Jacob Chamapara, Stibin Chamapara, Ajeena Shibu Chelamalayil, Jackson James Animoottil, Mathews Thomas Adiyayapallil, Amal Tomy Mundutharayil led the cultural programs. The attendees partook in a feast after the artistic performances of the youth.

Berlin: Metropolitan Mar Mathew Moolakkat stated that the collective traditions of the community should be nurtured while maintaining unwavering loyalty to God and the Church. His Excellency made these remarks during the inauguration of "Servus," a European Knanaya youth meeting held from 8th to 10th July 2022. The event was attended by youth from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the DACH association under the leadership of KCYL Germany.

President Nidin Shaji Vechuvettikal of KCYL Germany presided over the general meeting, which commenced with Holy Mass under the patronage of Mar Mathew Moolakkat. Libin Jose Parayil, the KCYL Archdiocese President, delivered the keynote address, and the spiritual advisor, Fr. Binoy Koottanal, also gave an introductory speech. Approximately 100 young people participated in the three-day youth gathering, with the aim of uniting Knanaya youth in Europe, fostering friendships among them, and empowering the community in Europe. The gathering officially commenced with the hoisting of the KCYL flag by Director Chinju Anna Poovathel.

Various ice-breaking programs and youth performances were organized to facilitate interactions between the youth from different countries. A session on youth leadership, led by Libin Jose Parayil, was held. Speakers at the event included Nijo Johnny Pandarasseril, Maria Saji Punnakat, Nidhish Thomas Pantamamchuvattil (the first president of KCYL Germany), and Thobias Parappallil. Sister Advisor Jomy SJC, Fr. Manoj Elidathamil, Joseme Jose Athanikal, Joji Jose Methayat, Sijo Sabu Nedumthottiyil, and Bony Simon Ezharath also addressed the meeting. Jabin James Kalarikkal and Sera Mohan Alooparampil presided over the program. The three-day youth meet concluded with a one-day boat ride.

Berlin: A youth conference called "DACH" was organized for the Knanaya youth of Germany, Austria and Switzerland via Zoom under the leadership of KCYL Germany on 22nd August 2021. DACH (D-A-CH) is a combination of the initials of Germany (Deutschland), Austria (Austria) and Switzerland (Confoederatio Helvetica). The association aims to bring together young people growing up in the unique Knanaya tradition and faith, foster mutual friendships and strengthen the Knanaya community on European soil. Merin P welcomed the meeting. Germany KCYL Chaplain Fr. Binoy Koottanal delivered the introductory speech. His Excellency Geevarghese Mar Afrem presided over the meeting and reminded the youth that the Knanaya community is based on immigration and that the community's tradition and identity should be held firmly in Europe.
